A grand day at the lake A large section of the club membership is interested in building, buying and sailing scale and semi scale model ships & boats. The section covers a very wide range of, types, sizes of boats, degrees of skill in building & sailing and of course depth of pockets.

Ages range from seven to eighty and the only essential prerequisite is a good sense of humour.

Boats can cost anything from £25.00 (some say) self built from scratch to several hundred pounds for a kit of parts. Boats which are ready to run (RTR) that need little or no work before placing them on the water can be bought or years can be spent building a fine model that is an accurately detailed version of an original full size vessel. Two Members in deep talks

So whatever takes your fancy or suits your pocket is catered for and there is a wealth of experience among members who are always available with advice or expertise.

Most of the scale boats are powered by electric motors although the occasional steam powered model can be seen on the waters.

There is regular sailing on Sunday mornings & Thursday afternoons. If you are interested in joining you are more than welcome to come down and try the waters for sailing and talk to members before making a decision

An example of a ready to run model Once a month we also have a fun scale steering event. A course is laid out on the lake with buoys, obstacle and docks to test out all those sailing skills gained. Many a time we watch a seasoned sailor beaten by the complete novices. So come along and join in the fun. An example of a highly detailed warship
